Pete Hassen is a more than 20-year veteran of the sports industry having guided marketing and public relations functions for three different organization in that span. Most recently, Hassen steered the marketing vision that helped transform the brand and image of the NHL’s Chicago Blackhawks — and was an integral part of the team that led what Forbes Magazine described as the “greatest turnaround in sports business history.”
Hassen helped to build a creative, business-savvy, people-focused marketing and communications function from scratch, and spearheaded captivating campaigns. He influenced and contributed to the team’s corporate partnerships group with key initiatives that helped close deals with top-tier partners including Anheuser-Busch, BMO Harris Bank, CME Group, and MB Financial Bank. Hassen was the lead representative between the franchise and the city of Chicago and worked with government officials to facilitate the buildout of the team’s new practice rink. Managed the relationship and collaborated with the team’s creative agency to develop and execute the award-winning “One Goal” campaign and other high-impact programs that reached audiences through digital and traditional media. Redesigned the organization’s game presentation by integrating leading-edge technologies and branded sponsorships into the game-day experience. Promoted and supported talent/player management efforts to boost athlete visibility through marketing, advertising, promotional campaigns and special events.
Hassen was a key figure on the executive board of the Chicago Blackhawks Foundation helping to guide revenue growth and new partnerships over a ten-year period. He lives in Glencoe, IL with his wife Kate and their son Clayton.
